Councilmember Cordero’s Summer of Service Initiative

OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEER IN  CITY SUMMER SERVICE PROJECTS

(HONOLULU) – Honolulu City Councilmember Radiant Cordero today introduced “Council  District 7’s Summer of Service,” a new initiative for area residents to get outdoors, volunteer  with their neighbors, and participate in service projects in areas ranging from Liliha to Hālawa.

“We envision clean and safe streets, revitalized parks and engaged communities,” said  Councilmember Radiant Cordero. “This is an exciting opportunity for neighbors to partner with  my office, nonprofits, educators, and others to get involved, take pride in our neighborhoods and  give back to our community.”

The summer-long campaign kicks off on May 16, 2021 with an Illegal Dumping Cleanup event  taking place at Kalākaua Middle School, led by 808 Cleanups. Other planned projects throughout  the next few months include park beautifications, food drives, tree planting initiatives, street  clean-ups and guided senior strolls with community kūpuna.

All area residents, from keiki to kūpuna, are invited to participate in Council District 7’s Summer  of Service. Residents can learn more about the initiative and view the schedule of events at  http://bit.ly/d7summerofservice or call Councilmember Cordero at (808) 768-5007.
