Councilmember Brandon Elefante to Lead National League of Cities’ Large Cities Council
 

HONOLULU, HAWAI ‘I  Honolulu City Councilmember Brandon Elefante has been appointed as Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) 2022 Large Cities Council. Chair Elefante was elected to a one-year term to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similarly sized communities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, Georgia. 

 

“It is humbling and an honor to be elected to serve in this leadership position. Working with other leaders from similar communities will enhance my service to the people of my district and the overall residents of O‘ahu,” Elefante said. 

  

“Brandon’s hardworking tenacity along with his aloha will be a great fit for his role as Chair of the Large Cities Council,” said Tommy Waters, Honolulu City Council Chair. “His leadership has shepherded our own council through some very complex issues and the LCC is fortunate to have his service.”

 

As a member of NLC’s Large Cities Council, Chair Elefante will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share similar demographics, size or location.

 

“Our member councils are the voices of what’s happening on the ground in our communities,” said NLC President Mayor Vince Williams of Union City, Georgia. “I am proud to have Chair Elefante lead NLC's Large Cities Council. Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to solve the most pressing challenges facing our communities and help fulfill the promise of our America’s cities, towns and villages.” 

 

This year’s council will be led by Chair Brandon Elefante, Councilmember, Honolulu, HI; Vice Chair Jeanette Herron, Majority Leader, Bridgeport, CT; and Vice Chair Andreas Addison, Councilmember, Richmond, VA.

Honolulu City Councilmember Brandon Elefante represents Council District 8 which includes Lower ʻAiea, Pearlridge, Waimalu, Newtown, Pearl City, Seaview, Crestview, Waipiʻo Gentry and Waipahū. He also serves as Chair of the Council Committee on Zoning and Planning.
