Council Chair Tommy Waters Issues Statement on Devastating Wildfires on Maui

HONOLULU, HAWAIʻI - On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, Council Chair Tommy Waters released the following statement on the tragic and devastating wildfires on Maui:

“Our hearts go out to all our Maui ‘ohana, friends, and communities impacted by the catastrophic wildfires. We extend our deepest condolences and aloha to those who have lost loved ones during this harrowing time and send a heartfelt mahalo to our sister County of Maui, all of the emergency crews, first responders, FEMA, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. National Guard, volunteers, and every individual working diligently to bring relief and support.”

Council Chair Waters represents City Council District 4, which includes Hawai‘i Kai, Kuli‘ou‘ou, Niu Valley, ‘Āina Haina, Wailupe, Wai‘alae Iki, Kalani Valley, Kāhala, Wilhelmina Rise, Kaimukī, Kapahulu, Diamond Head, and Waikīkī.
