Urgent COVID mitigation front and center at City Council 

Pre-testing, health passes and a powerful briefing 

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I — Prominent Hawai‘i medical experts will discuss their day-to-day  experiences facing down the COVID-19 pandemic and developing trends at a special meeting of  the Honolulu City Council Committee on Transportation, Sustainability and Health at 10:30 a.m.  Thursday, September 2. The committee is chaired by Councilmember Radiant Cordero. 

Speakers include: 

Dr. Darragh O'Carroll, Emergency Physician  

Dr Victoria Fan, Chair of the Hawai‘i Pandemic Applied Modeling (HiPAM) Work Group Dr. Julius Pham, Queen's Medical Center Intensive Care Unit 

The medical professionals will speak as part of an informational briefing, updating  councilmembers and the public on the current status, trends and impacts, as well as potential  actions and measures to address the surge of the delta variant and protect the health of O‘ahu  residents. 

The committee will also consider two new resolutions aimed at combatting the spread of the  delta variant in this most recent surge of the COVID-19 pandemic. Public testimony will precede  council action. 

Resolution 21-193, urging the governor to reinstate pre-travel COVID-19 testing for domestic  and international travelers to Hawai‘i regardless of vaccination status.
