Councilmember Brandon Elefante re-elected to National League of Cities board
HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I ̶ Honolulu City Councilmember Brandon Elefante has been elected to serve a second term on the board of directors of the National League of Cities at its 2021 virtual City Summit. NLC comprises city, town and village leaders focused on improving the quality of life for their constituents, present and future.
As an NLC board member, Councilmember Elefante will continue his work to help guide the strategic direction of the organization. His active participation has helped to foster a strong federal-local bond, that can help influence national policy toward innovative solutions for common issues.
“It is truly humbling to have been re-elected to the board,” Councilmember Elefante said. “It is an honor to represent Hawai‘i as the organization strengthens ties with members of Congress and key national, regional and city leaders for the benefit of all we serve.”
“His re-election is a testament to the dedication and hard work Councilmember Elefante devotes to representing his constituents and his broader passion for serving the people of Hawai‘i,” said Honolulu City Council Chair Tommy Waters. “His leadership ensures that he will continue to positively represent our island home at the national level.”
During his first term, Councilmember Elefante hosted the NLC Virtual Site Visit in August. It was staged to discuss challenges and opportunities in Honolulu that relate to other large cities, as well as to foster a space for peer support during the pandemic. Highlights included video welcome messages from Governor David Ige, Mayor Rick Blangiardi, Council Chair Tommy Waters and Councilmember Radiant Cordero, as well as a virtual pau-hana event with Hawaiian music performed by select members of the Royal Hawaiian Band in City Council Chambers.

Honolulu City Councilmember Brandon Elefante represents Council District 8 which includes Lower ‘Aiea, Pearlridge, Waimalu, Newtown, Pearl City, Seaview, Crestview, Waipi‘o Gentry and Waipahū. He also serves as Chair of the Council Committee on Zoning and Planning.
